Zamora has been a fixture in Valley sports journalism since his first published story in 1971. He has served as a sports writer, broadcaster, and public address announcer, and has been active in community service. He became Sports Editor of The Brownsville Herald a week after his 18th birthday in 1972, a position he held for three years while attending Texas Southmost College.

He later earned his Bachelor of Journalism degree at the University of Texas at Austin, where he reached the rank of Sports Editor of the Daily Texan in 1977.

Zamora served as Sports Editor of the Valley Morning Star and Brownsville Herald, and was a sports writer at the San Antonio Light. He worked several positions at the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College for 22 years, including Sports Information Director.

Zamora served as the public address announcer and Internet radio voice for Scorpion athletics teams from 2000 to 2006. He also served as the play-by-play announcer for the University of Texas-Pan American basketball on the Valley Fox television affiliate from 2000-02.

Zamora is a past president of Leadership Brownsville Inc. and the RGV Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors
