Best Known for: Coaching – Track
When Coach Homer Martinez talks, the athletes listen because they know he has the track record to go along with his words of wisdom.
Martinez was one of the top six milers in the country at Falfurrias High School in the 1960s and went on to become a two-time All-American for Texas A&I University in cross country, a holder of five records.
In a coaching career that began in San Antonio and continues to this day in the Valley, Martinez has led teams at Edinburg High and Edinburg North to state meets.
